July around Seattle

Summer is in full swing here in Seattle with a ton of activities going on around town.  Seattle is consistently ranked as a top U.S. Summer destination spot and I understand why.  With our abundant outdoor activities, perfect summer weather, array of farmers markets, live music, art scene, free concerts, trendy neighborhoods, excellent food options, why would anyone want to spend the summer anywhere else?  Let’s dive into just a few of the noteworthy and free events happening this month!

Happy 4th of July!  There are too many neighborhood festivals to mention them all but the Seattle (Lake Union) 4th of July event is an all-day festival from noon until 11:00 pm at Gasworks Park (Fireworks at 10:20 pm).  Bellevue (Downtown park), Edmonds (Civic Stadium), and Kirkland are also known for great fireworks displays.

Shakespeare in the Park  The Seattle Shakespeare Company presents free outdoor plays in the park around the region (with locations in Issaquah, Mercer Island, Shoreline, and more).  Check out the calendar to catch a show near you.

Ballard Seafood Festival July 7-9 has been a neighborhood tradition since 1974.  It is THE place to sample northwest ocean fare such as dungeness crab, salmon, clams, and oysters while listening to music, drinking your beverage of choice, and spending time with family and friends.

United Indians Seafair Pow Wow July 14-16 offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in Native American and Indigenous culture including First Nations drummers, dancers in traditional regalia, Native Food, and Art in Discovery Park, Seattle.  Everyone is welcome!

Seattle Street Food Festival July 15 – 16 has 150 food trucks in South Lake Union.  Eat your heart out, Seattle!

Vashon Strawberry Festival July 21-23 is the place to go if you haven’t gotten your fill of perfectly sweet Northwest strawberries.  Take the ferry from West Seattle, spend the day exploring the Island, and enjoy some glorious strawberry shortcake!

Bellevue Arts Fair July 28-30 is a nationally recognized fair featuring handmade work from national (and international) designers, artists, and craftspeople.  There are also special features including a Kidsfair, Chalk Street walk, and Sound Stage.

Enjoy July and have fun out there!
